Donovan's lo-fi propers were well-established in the Sic Alps days, with records on skuzz-king labels Slumberland, Siltbreeze and Animal Disguise. His oft-underrated status as a master songwriter of the genre will receive a hot shot in the arm with this new album; generally stripping the tunes of rock directions allows them to shine in lovingly disheveled productions. Writing a bunch on piano instead of guitar and employing a variety of keyboard sounds allows for highlights galore amidst an indelible "I-got-too-high" album that will stand up with all the classic freak-out pop classics.
